मकबूल बट का परिवार आज पुरुषविहीन है। यह वही मकबूल बट है जिसने कश्मीर में कथित ‘आजादी’ के संघर्ष की शुरुआत करते हुए बर्घिंग्म में भारतीय राजनयिक रविन्द्र महात्रे की हत्या की थी और उसे 11 फरवरी 1984 को फांसी पर लटका दिया गया था।

It is known by very few people that the havoc inflicted on the family of Maqbool Butt, who started the movement for alleged independence in Kashmir, left his family devoid of men. The same havoc has now hit the Guru family. The condition of the Guru family is that Abdul Ahad Guru, his chachazan was killed 27 years ago in the desire for so-called freedom, then Afzal Guru was hanged in 2013 and his brother Shaukat Guru was released from jail 12 years ago.
मकबूल बट का परिवार आज पुरुषविहीन है। यह वही मकबूल बट है जिसने कश्मीर में कथित ‘आजादी’ के संघर्ष की शुरुआत करते हुए बर्घिंग्म में भारतीय राजनयिक रविन्द्र महात्रे की हत्या की थी और उसे 11 फरवरी 1984 को फांसी पर लटका दिया गया था। उसके परिवार का दुखद पहलू यह है कि आज उसका भरण-पोषण किसी पुरुष नहीं बल्कि महिला द्वारा किया जा रहा है क्योंकि पांच भाईयों में से मात्र एक जीवित है और वह भी इस समय पाक अधिकृत कश्मीर में है।
पांच भाईयों-मकबूल, गुलाम नबी, जहूर, हब्बीबुल्लाह तथा मंजूर बट में से सबसे छोटा जहूर बट इस समय उस कश्मीर में है। परिवार वालों के लिए वह मर चुका है क्योंकि कई सालें से उन्होंने उसका चेहरा नहीं देखा। स्थिति यह है बट परिवार की कि पेशे से दर्जी, मकबूल बट के छोटे भाई गुलाम नबी ने भी 1989 में आतंक की राह पकड़ी थी और उसके उपरांत मंजूर ने भी इसी राह को थामा था।

Until now the burden of the Butt family was on the shoulders of Ghulam Nabi's daughter as there were no men in the house. There are still seven women left in this family. Women whose husbands were killed in an alleged conflict that gave nothing but sorrow and tears of blood to anyone.
And now this is the situation of the famous Guru family of Kashmir. Kashmir's noted cardiologist Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru has been called the father of Kashmir's so-called freedom struggle because JKLF had taken up arms by leaders following his ideology. But Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru also had to fall prey to gunfire on 1 April 1993.
Now Muhammad Afzal Guru who was hanged for the attack on Parliament was the nephew of Abdul Ahad Guru. Another nephew Shaukat Guru, who is Afzal's cousin, has also been sentenced to jail on charges of assault on Parliament. It is certain that Maqbool Butt's family was the only family that had been the victim of the so-called struggle for independence but all the ruins of the alleged freedom of the three families of the Guru family were ruined.
